Ladies and gentlemen … It’s time for some baseball that counts and stuff we can gamble on because the Tokyo Series is here!

Not only is it exciting to have regular season baseball back in our lives, but this also gives me the opportunity to give everyone a little peek at the type of content we will deliver each day in Plunder’s Pitch Mix Picks.
For now, everybody will get ALL the content for free, but just a friendly reminder that you can use the code EARLY15 for 15% off our premium picks for the 2025 season. If you were to sign up for the full season plan, that kicks you down to just $80 for the entire regular and postseason, which breaks down to a little over $11 a month.
If I can’t return you more than $11 a month in winnings from these picks, then I TOTALLY suck as a pirate (and that ain’t gonna happen)! UPGRADE TO PREMIUM NOW
✅ TOP PICKS ✅
I will preface the picks with a couple things … this is still the middle of March and things can still get a little wonky in the early part of the season as we learn who is good, who sucks and what markets and matchups we can attack. Two months into season we will start to build a significant track record of data, but early on we will need to go by feel, last year’s stats, etc. We will tread LIGHTLY financially as well. No need to break the bank while we figure it all out.
Tommy Edman (LAD) vs. Shota Imanaga
Edman is my favorite pick of the day, so let me break down a little why that is the case. Imanaga is a lefty who primarily throws 4-seam fastballs (53%) and splitters (34%) when facing righties.
Here’s Edman’s stats in 24 at bats against lefties throwing those specific pitches …
AVG | wOBA | OPS | ISO | HardHit% |
.455 | .642 | 1.583 | .591 | 63% |
So yeah … pretty sick numbers. Plus it’s a tiny sample size, but you can throw in the fact that he was 2-3 against Imanaga and both hits for home runs.
TARGET MARKETS: Total Bases (up to 1u), Hits+Runs+RBI (up to 1.25), HR (0.25u)
Teoscar Hernandez (LAD) vs. Shota Imanaga
Using the same pitch mix breakout for Teoscar (cuz it’s the same pitcher and stuff … duh), we get these results in 46 at bats …
AVG | wOBA | OPS | ISO | HardHit% |
.283 | .397 | .957 | .283 | 48% |
Not quite as fantastic as Edman’s numbers, but also pretty solid. Teo has only faced Imanaga once and was 1-2 with a single, so nothing much to look at there.
TARGET MARKETS: TB (0.75u), H+R+R (0.75u), HR (0.25u)
✅ THE NEXT TIER ✅
Couple more picks that are worth consideration …
Seiya Suzuki (CHC) vs. Yoshinobu Yamamoto
Yamamoto brings a little more pitch variety to the table, focusing on a 4-seamer (41%), a splitter (22%) and a curve (22%). Suzuki’s 2024 sample gives us 152 at bats against these pitches …
AVG | wOBA | OPS | ISO | HardHit% |
.257 | .372 | .914 | .243 | 59% |
For what it’s worth, he’s 0-4 against Yamamoto in his career. Tiny sample, but part of the reason he sits at tier 2.
TARGET MARKET: H+R+R (0.5u)
Shohei Ohtani (LAD) vs. Shota Imanaga
I don’t really have standout stats to share with you here, I’m instead mostly just saying I’m going to have a hard time full fading Ohtani while he’s in the complete spotlight of the Tokyo Series. That makes him definitely worth a sprinkle. Worth mentioning he’s 0-5 against Imanaga in his career, but whatever.
TARGET MARKETS: TB (0.5u), HR (0.25u)
